lncantalupi is set in a land rich with memories, a few kilometers to the east of the remains of a megalithic wall once called "Paritone dei Greci" or "Limitone': which marked the boundary of 8th century Byzantine domination in the land of Otranto. In the icinity are compelling churches and Basilian caves (Belvedere, San Biagio and San Giovanni) and also the farm Campi Distrutta, which recalls the Lombard medieval farmhouse.
According to belief, the name lncantalupi (literally wolf-enchanter) originates from the particular charm of this piace: open spaces which stretch to the horizon, ever changing skies, the quietness and fervor of Iife, profound silences interrupted only by ancestral sounds:the calling of herds, cooing of doves, chirping of cicadas, howling of dogs, neighing of horses and rustling of hay. These combine with thescent of the sea and the strongerscents of water-mint, wild fennel, oregano, myrtle and eucalyptus to evoke old flavours, rediscovered beside crackling fires and accompanied with translucent wines that induce a sense of forgetfulness.
But lncantalupi is more than just this.
